In a little over a month, I will be competing in the North Face Endurance Challenge 50k trail race just north of San Francisco. In addition to running the race on December 6th, I am also running to raise awareness and funds for diabetes research.
Diabetes affects millions across the nation and has deeply affected my family. My grandfather, Mike Dunn, lived with diabetes for as long as I can remember until he passed last October. He always tried to live with the glass half full, nicknaming himself "Four Toe Joe" after his first toe amputation and "Peg Leg" after he lost his leg. He battled the disease with a lot of courage and humor, but in the end it was no laughing matter. Any money I raise in the next 6 weeks I plan on donating in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading organization that funds research for type 1 diabetes. Their goal is to progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes and currently sponsor $568 million in research around the world.
I appreciate your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal. Every donation helps us in the effort to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure diabetes.
