BENEFITING: CAMP SUNSHINE AT SEBAGO LAKE
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2013
My name is Katie Fargnoli and I am a nutrition student, graduating this May. I have competed on a Division I track team, completed a half and full marathon, and competed on a cross country team, so basically I LOVE to run. Me and my running buddy Colin have been training tirelessly this semester for a half marathon in April.
The only thing I love more than running is Camp Sunshine, a place that supports children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Volunteering at Camp this past July has completely changed my outlook on life. The families I had the privilege to meet and grow to love are my inspiration. I volunteered during brain tumor week, and let me tell you, these kids do not let things like chemotherapy and radiation ruin their spirits. In October, I lost a classmate and friend to a brain tumor, and she, like these children, embraced life and lived every second as if she was not sick, a true inspiration to everyone.
Camp Sunshine is a place for families with children battling life threatening illnesses to come together and get a sense of normalcy. It is a place where they are understood and learn about different medical options from others who have been in their shoes. It is a place for families to relax, kids to be kids, and for siblings to have support.
It would be an honor for us to sponsor a deserving family to go to Camp Sunshine. We have reached our goal of sponsoring one family, and the thought of sponsoring another family would be incredible.
In order to send two families to Camp Sunshine, we will need to raise $3000 dollars. We will be running in the Lake George Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, on April 21st, 2013, in the hopes of raising enough money for a great cause and Colin and I are asking for your help.
Any amount of money would be greatly appreciated.
10 cents for every mile we run during training
10 cents for every 10 miles we run during training
$1 dollar for every mile we run on race day
ANYTHING is appreciated and every little bit helps!
Even if you do not donate, your support is so important! Please help us send a family to Camp, and please help us run in the legacy of Nicki Muller. To learn more about Nicki's story, please visit http://www.nickimuller.com/default.html Forever loved and missed <3
