On June 15, 2 months to the day after I crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon, I crossed the finish line of the Trail Animals 50, held in Weston, MA, just 20 minutes from Boston. I ran the race in support of my fellow athletes and the spectators at Boston, and to raise funds for Massachusetts General Hospital, where many of the wounded were treated that day.
The race, already challenging as an overnight run, became exponentially more difficult as the course got muddier and muddier. It was long night, filled with knee deep mud and waist deep water. Every time my foot slipped or got stuck in the mire, I reminded myself that this was nothing compared to learning how to walk again. I would touch the Boston Strong ribbon on my shirt and say quietly: "Relentless. Forward. Progress." When I finally hit the tape at 6:25 am, I had been running for 11 hours and 25 minutes.
Please consider helping me reach my $1500 goal.
