BENEFITING: EDGE OF SEVEN INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 22, 2012
Welcome folks, and thank you for clicking!
I am running the Denver Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon this September on behalf of Edge of Seven, a Denver-based nonprofit organization that both acts and inspires. All donations raised in support of my run go towards Edge of Seven's community development projects in countries such as Nepal and Tanzania.
About the org: "Edge of Seven's mission is to generate awareness and volunteer support for projects that invest in education, health, and economic opportunity for girls in developing countries. We empower girls by supporting initiatives that are locally-driven, community-focused, and sustainable. It is our goal to make a measurable difference in the areas that we serve through a chain of volunteers over time."
Why did I choose Edge of Seven? After studying international development and human rights in under grad and then focusing on public policy, international affairs, and nonprofit management in graduate school I learned that there are a lot of great intentions out there, but effective, sustainable approaches are much less common. Edge of Seven's approach is comprehensive and takes great care in ensuring projects are locally-driven and inspired. I also hope to volunteer one day in Nepal and find more opportunities to travel off the beaten path with a purpose.
My goal is to individually raise at least $500. Break that down to 20 awesome friends, family, co-workers, mentors, neighbors, acquaintances, and super heros like you donating an average of $25 a person.
Thank you for your interest and support! If you are inspired, feel free to share the site with others!
