Hospice at Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties is an independent, non-profit hospice program that provides comfort and care to people in Adamsville, Barrington, Bristol, Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Prudence Island, Tiverton, and Warren, RI.
The wonderful nurses and staff gave my Mum support and care so the last months of her life suffering with esophageal cancer were ones of dignity, comfort and love. The bridge between aggressive cancer treatment in whatever capacity and end-of-life is massive and terrifying, hospice care provides great comfort both to the patient and their families. There is so much to support with cancer, finding cures, promoting check ups but please remember those organisations that take care of us at the end.
Running across the Newport Bridge on November 13th is a small step to help Hospice at Visiting Nurse Services. Self-propelled exercise is my least favourite, give me a horse and I would be much happier! However, I will be so proud to do this for my Mum and the wonderful people at the VNS.
Support them, they need it, we need it.
