BENEFITING: THE JEDEDIAH THOMAS SMITH FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Feb 21, 2015
I think we all have been affected by cancer somehow in our life.
I started out this fundraiser to help this charity raise valuable funds to help families who have children with cancer. I was inspired to Run the Glass Slipper Challenge by my husbands Aunt BJ, who just lost her battle with brain cancer in December. After seeing what she has went through her last month's I can't imagine being a parent and being told that your child has cancer.
Currently, I have Uncle who is fighting cancer. I also have an Aunt that is in her 1st year of being cancer free. There is no worse news than hearing a relative or friend has cancer. Imagine if that person was a child full who still has their full life in front of them, this was Jed. Although I personally never met Jed, he was a student in my sister's pre-school class when first diagnosed. I remember my sister talking about it then and thought how sad for his family. As I prepare for my journey into running, a journey I just began. As I begin this journey, I think of all those who no longer have the ability to run and it is from them that I am gaining the inspiration to continue. Please consider donating to me as I race the Glass Slipper Challenge.
For those that don't know what the challenge is, it is The Disney Princes Enchanted 10k on Saturday and then the Disney Princes Half Marathon on Sunday. Yes I am crazy that is over 19 mile in two days for a non-runner. My initial goal is $1900, that is $100 for every mile I will run.
