Yes, I'm running again! The first half of the San Francisco Marathon will take me over the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge as I sweat (well, maybe not so much in the cool SF weather) to raise money for the Jenesse Center, the oldest domestic violence intervention program in South Los Angeles.
Jenesse Center is a wonderful non-profit organization that does so much more than provide emergency shelter (which is also a part of the services provided). Rather, Jenesse is a comprehensive, centralized base of support designed to guide women and children (its primary clients) from the point of immediate crisis in their homes to changing the patterns of their lives so that they can become thriving participants in our community. It is a process that can take up to 2+ years and includes job training, legal assistance, mental health counseling, transitional housing, parenting classes, financial freedom education and much more! The work Jenesse Center is doing positively impacts us all. As Karen Earl, Jenesse's Executive Director puts it, “what leaves the home enters the world”. Please visit the Jenesse Center website if you want to learn more about the powerful work being done to combat the root and effects of domestic violence: http://jenesse.org/index.html.
I thank you for any contribution you are willing to make to Jenesse Center -- it is very much appreciated! (Jenesse Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.)
