BENEFITING: JUSTICE PROJECT INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
I'll be running the New York Marathon this year to benefit the Arizona Justice Project. Since 1998, The Justice Project has been helping to overturn -- and prevent -- wrongful convictions in the State of Arizona. The Justice Project examines claims of innocence and manifest injustice, and provides legal representation for inmates believed to have been failed by the criminal justice system. Some key stats:
- 300 people nationwide (18 on death row) have been exonerated over the last 30 years by DNA for crimes they did not commit
- 2,000+ "non-DNA" exonerations over last 20 years (equates to 1 every week)
- If only 1% of people in prison were wrongfully convicted, there are more than 22,000 innocent people in U.S. prisons today
The Arizona Justice Project is a great cause, and I hope you'll help raise the funds they need to keep fighting the good fight.
