I will try to run strong for all those who never give up on living their dreams, for those who refuse to give up hope even when they fall down, and for all those who inspire others to be great.
I chose the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in honor of one of my toughest students who has been battling this disease for several years. When I asked this student how he was doing one day, he said hopeful and immediately asked me how I was doing. He then explained how he had found a donor and had scheduled his surgery for the end of this semester - a week before my big race day. This student's courage and determination were unwavering, and even when faced with an incredible challenge himself, he was still smiling and had such a positive outlook on life.
Multiple Myeloma is considered a rare cancer, and like many of the other rare cancers, it does not receive as much attention as others. Please support foundations like the MMRF (http://www.themmrf.org/) and others like the Katie Moore Foundation (http://www.katiemoore.org/).
