Amidst a stream of controversy over Sunday's NYC Marathon, a race I've personally spent the last few months training for, there are many who are calling the continuation of such an event an insult, or worse, given the number of people who aren't yet out of harm's way. While the Bloomberg administration and the NYRR clearly disagree, a few of us have banded together to turn Sunday's race — or any run — into an opportunity to do some good for the victims of Sandy in NYC.
With that in mind, we've started a fundraising effort aimed at raising $47,000 for the Red Cross, or $1 for every NYC Marathon entrant. We'd be flattered/excited/overjoyed if you'd help us get the word out about www.RunForNewYork.com and encourage every runner in the NYC Marathon to take action.
Mary Wittenberg, CEO of the NY Road Runners, recently stated that her goal is to see every New Yorker run 1 mile. We’d like to see her put her money where her mouth is. Please, help us out by sharing, posting, tweeting, etc. our cause to help NYC.
