BENEFITING: THE MAYORS FUND TO ADVANCE NEW YORK CITY
For those who don't know, Mayor Bloomberg decided to cancel the NYC marathon after it became the source of controversy and division for the people of new york. It's a little frustrating that it took until Friday afternoon, 2 days before the marathon, to get to that decision, but nonetheless, I think it was the right decision. Chris and I found out as we were headed to the airport just in time so we were able to cancel our flight; however, looking at the situation in Staten Island and other boroughs, I wish we had still gone to help volunteer!
So, although I won't be running in NYC on Sunday, I'll be running in LA (hopefully my longest distance so far!) and still fundraising for the relief efforts. Please donate!
Thanks in advace!
As most of you may know, I'll be running my first-ever marathon this Sunday in NYC. I can't believe the time has actually come.
I've been following the news very closely the past week or so and it's sad to see that much of the city, especially downtown where we used to live just over a month ago, is still recovering from Hurricane Sandy. I wondered if the marathon would be postponed or cancelled. Amidst so much controversy, the city has announced that the race will still go on.
So, friends, Chris and I are headed to NYC this weekend as planned and I will be running the marathon in the greatest city in the world! (crawling might be more appropriate). More importantly, I'll be raising money for the hurricane relief efforts through the Mayor's Fund. I'm personally pledging $26.2 per mile that I run! My goal is to reach $2,000 so please visit this site and donate! You can still donate after the race so no excuses :)
I'm really excited but also a little nervous as I haven't been keeping up with my training as much as I should have. All the more reason I'd love it if all you NYC friends could come out and cheer me on! Would love to see your faces to keep me going especially since I'm pretty sure I will hit a wall after mile 18.
Please text me if you plan to come! I'm pretty slow so you may see me in Central Park later in the afternoon towards the end :)

Thanks in advance everyone and please donate! And let me know if you plan on stopping by!
