BENEFITING: Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc.
EVENT DATE: May 11, 2013
As some of you may or may not know, I used to be very anti-running (a mix of asthma and laziness). A few weeks ago, inspired by my Friend's new found running prowess, I gave it a try and thought it was about time to try out a "race." Enter "Color Run Baltimore" -- a 5k race where volunteers on the sidelines throw packets of color at you as you run.
Oh right, you want to know why you're going to give me (a.k.a. Planned Parenthood) money. Simple: 3 million women and men visit a Planned Parenthood health center every year and 1 in 5 women have visited a Planned Parenthood health center in their lifetime (that's you or someone you know). If that's not enough, then how about Planned Parenthood's continuous fight to protect women's rights in states like North Dakota, where they just banned abortions after 6 weeks (as President Obama said, "A woman may not even know that she’s pregnant at six weeks").
Protecting and promoting women's health isn't always easy and isn't cheap (though every dollar spent on preventive care saves $4!) so give what you can and support my (first) run for PP! Each $1 sponsors .01 miles of the race ($311 = 3.11 miles = 5k).
