I don't remember how I was introduced to the Tunnel to Tower Foundation several years ago, if I stumbled on it surfing the web or if my parents told me about it. My parents have participated in the annual September 5k fundraiser a few times, and I joined my mom and friend Tammie (it was her first 5k!!) for the 2011 Tunnel to Tower run in NYC. I was born on Staten Island, though we moved away when I was pretty young. I actually planned to celebrate my birthday this year by running the NYC marathon, starting on good ol' Staten Island. We made it to NJ in time, but of course the race was cancelled. Nevertheless, I was glad we made the trip and now to have an opportunity to fundraise for victims via a running event. At this point, my plan is probably to run a full 15k on December 8th, but I have not planned my runs out that far yet.
