BENEFITING: BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF NEW JERSEY INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 04, 2015
Hi! My name is Ami Shah, and I am one of the 2015 BRInj’s summer undergraduate research students. I finished my junior year at BRInj majoring in biology and minoring in math.
This summer at BRInj, I worked on a project with nine other undergraduates studying Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), an intestinal disease that affects mostly premature babies. Aspiring to be a physician, I thought it was really amazing to see the complex and intricate questions of science that must be answered before it can directly help save lives. I was excited that my group got to develop an in vitro model for NEC because it used science to recreate the pathophysiology of the disease
To show my commitment for research, I’ll be running during the whole month of August. As a team we are committed to run 500 miles in 5 weeks to raise $5,000 to help support BRInj’s fundraiser “Run for Research”. My personal goal is to run 5 miles and raise $500. You could sponsor me per mile or make a flat donation at a level that is comfortable for you.
Please join me to reach and perhaps even exceed our goal! Your donation will support research initiatives at BRInj in neonatology and neurological diseases as well as helping secure future Summer Research Programs for both undergraduates and high school students.
I truly appreciate any and all support!
