BENEFITING: BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF NEW JERSEY INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 04, 2015
Hi! My name is Jeff Peters, and I am one of the 2015 BRInj’s summer undergraduate research students. I am a rising senior at Loyola University of Chicago studying Biology/Pre-Med.
This summer at BRInj, I worked on a project with nine other undergraduates studying Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), an intestinal disease that affects mostly premature babies. Being an undergraduate student studying for Biology, I have a huge interest in anything medically related. This research program was very eye opening and It exposed me to so many new experiences that will help me in my future. My group had the honor of testing the properties of breast milk that could protect against NEC. I am very grateful for this opportunity and being able to work alongside well regarded scientists and truly understand the complexity and depth that goes into scientific research.
To show my commitment for research, I’ll be running during the whole month of August. As a team we are committed to run 500 miles in 5 weeks to raise $5,000 to help support BRInj’s fundraiser “Run for Research”. My personal goal is to run 50 miles and raise $500. You could sponsor me for $10.00 per mile or make a contribution at a level that is confortable for you.
Please join me to reach and perhaps even exceed our goal! Your donation will support research initiatives at BRInj in neonatology and neurological diseases as well as helping secure future Summer Research Programs for both undergraduates and high school students.
I will be so grateful if you could help me support this cause!
