Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page! I am running the Miami Half Marathon in January to raise money for an organization most of you have heard me talk about, one whose mission I am passionately dedicated to, and one that I has been my extracurricular "job" for over two years now: Roots of Hope.
Often, when people talk of Cuba they invariably look back, but my/our roots reach for the sky. Since its inception, Roots of Hope has been empowering Cuban youth to be agents of change with innovative programs such as Cells 4 Cuba and the Family Reunification Program. By bringing Cuban youth into the 21st century technologically and building cultural and academic relationships with our counterparts on the island, the seeds of hope that we have planted are starting to grow in the most amazing of ways. I am proud to have been representing this organization and to be volunteering my time and energy for its cause.
Run for Roots is the embodiment of this mission. We are a group of runners from NY, Miami, Washington - you name it. Every step we take will support the award-winning initiatives of Roots of Hope and every mile (of the 13.1!!!) we run will help inspire Cuban youth to greater heights.
I hope you will consider donating to my cause! I very much apprecite your support and can assure you that, when I cross that finish line, I won't be proud that I got a medal – I will be satisgied and overjoyed with the knowledge that Run for Roots has made a tangible difference for a population that desperately needs it.
