BENEFITING: PIONEERS IN ENGINEERING FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jul 31, 2016
On July 31, I will run the 52.4 mile-long San Francisco Ultramarathon in order to benefit STEM education in the San Francisco Bay Area. All donations will go towards Pioneers in Engineering (PiE), a student-run nonprofit in Berkeley which hosts an annual robotics competition for underserved high school students.
I am passionate about providing equal opportunities in education and bringing diversity into engineering. As an undergraduate engineering student at UC Berkeley and a volunteer for PiE, I’ve seen firsthand the difference that early exposure to STEM makes in college and beyond. I’m hoping to run a double marathon to help bring STEM education to more people; you just have to donate ;)
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a hands-on, quality STEM learning experience for underserved Bay Area high schools. Since 2008, it's been providing a handcrafted robotics competition for only $100 per high school. PiE has also expanded to include a mentorship program, open-source learning resources, and a scholarship for promising high school students.
