BENEFITING: The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust USA
This March I'll be running the Zion half marathon in Utah to raise funds for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. They are best known for their hand rearing and eventual release into the wild of rhinos and elephants orphaned by the ivory trade. 38,000 elephants are ruthlessly slaughtered each year for their tusks by poachers, leaving their babies who are seen as "worthless" because they do not have tusks, to die on their own. Although most famous for the orphans, DSWT also has active anti poaching teams that remove traps, confiscate weapons and bush meat. Their mobile veterinary teams also scour the bush for injured animals of all kinds and have saved countless lives. The ivory trade is not just a wildlife conservation issue. Money garnered from the illegal wild life trade funds terrorism, extremism as well as human, weapon and drug trafficking. It contributes to nothing more to this world but pure evil and suffering. Hopefully with your support we can make a difference!
