BENEFITING: MISSION SOS INTERNATIONAL INC
EVENT DATE: May 03, 2015
I will be running for "SOS Aid International". (For more info go to: http://www.sosaidinternational.com) I have decided to run for this great cause/organization mainly because I have a heart and passion for world/child hunger, poverty, especially the need for clean water in these poorer countries. I feel we are so blessed in America (not that there aren't several needs/hunger issues here too). However, I do believe we are very fortunate here in the U.S., rich and poor. We have so much more opportunity and resources here, and something as simple as clean water, that is so important. I know I take this for granted myself. I was recently reminded of this in my life, and I also want to make sure my kids understand how blessed we really are. It breaks my heart to think about children and families not having clean drinking water or food. We are blessed to be born in the U.S., it's not these innocent children's faults they are born into these poverty stricken places. I recently had a talk with my own girls on being grateful, not complaining, (I feel like a broken record sometimes, as I'm sure we all do at times as parents!) So I tried talking to them about ways we can maybe help or make difference. I'm also hoping my actions in running this race to support "SOS Aid International" will not only be a good example to my girls, but will inspire others, including myself to get more involved!
A cool thing I forgot to mention, and also why I chose this organization to support, is Martina Almqvist, Founder of SOS Aid, is a friend who lives here in the Allison Park community w/ her family! Please read more on their website about their upcoming "Mercy Projects" to Zambia and Tanzania this summer! They still are in need of funds to make these trips/missions happen! Remember, Any amount helps and will be matched at 100%! Thank you all in advance for your support and helping me, "run for the little ones"
