As you all know, the Philippines has been hit with a tragic storm, Typhoon Haiyan, that killed thousands of people and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. In the short time I spent in the Philippines back in May 2013, I had a chance to go to the islands of Cebu and Bohol, both which were affected by the storm. The people of the Philippines were some of the warmest and kindest I met, and the beaches were by far the most stunning that I saw in South East Asia. I've been trying to get in touch with my travel agent/tour coordinator for the past 5 days, and I haven't been able to reach her. :( I'm not sure if she was affected by Haiyan, but in any case, these events struck close to home for me after spending so much time in Asia this past year. With that being said, I will be participating in a few runs over the next few weeks and am hoping to raise money for the victims of the typhoon at the same time. One will be the 5K Cosmic Run at Candlestick Park (yes, an EDM run!) on 11/23 and the other will be the annual Silicon Valley 10K Turkey Trot on 11/28. (Join me for any of these runs!!)
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and this is a great opportunity to contribute to those in need - there are hundreds of thousands of families in the Philippines who are left homeless without food and water, and they could really use some help right now! Please help me fund raise for them if you can! I have 15 days to go to raise $500. If you've already donated, ignore this but if you haven't, it would be awesome to get your help! A dollar will go a long way and will surely help those who are suffering right now.
