THE STORY:

Oak Ridge Military Academy is a small military school in Oak Ridge, NC. I attended Oak Ridge from 1998-2003 and for me and many of the other Alumni it changed my life. I attribute much of my success today to the lessons that were taught to me both in and outside the classroom. Oak Ridge Military Academy or ORMA for short provides future leaders with a unique educational experience by fusing education, leadership, discipline, and military structure into young peoples lives. It is because of ORMA that I was able to go on to attend and succeed at The Military College of South Carolina, The Citadel. After The Citadel, I became an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. Many of the Challenges that I faced in the Army I was able to overcome easily because of the previous experiences and mentorship that I received at ORMA. I believe that ORMA provides for young people a valuable experience that is not duplicated in any other high school environment. Oak Ridge Military Academy, ORMA for short, provides future leaders with a unique educational experience by fusing education, leadership, discipline, and military structure into young people’s lives. It is because of ORMA that I was able to be a success today. My success is not unique for ORMA cadets, but my story is obviously unique. Following graduation at ORMA I attended and graduated in the top 15% of students from the challenging military College, The Citadel. For various reasons ORMA has fallen on hard times. I believe in this institution and want to do anything I can to help out. I believe there are those out there, alumni and ORMA supporters a like, that believe the same thing. It is for that reason that I have started this Fundraiser. In the month of March I will be participating in the "Myrtle Beach Marathon" as well as the “Bataan Memorial Death March” in White Sands Missile Range, NM. I will be volunteering to help take the ORMA Cadets through 26.2 miles of harsh desert terrain. Both of these events totaling 52.4 miles will be within 2 weeks of each other and I would like to dedicate them both to ORMA, and see if I can raise some support for the school by doing something challenging. ORMA was a challenging place for me that taught me to overcome adversity so I believe it is fitting that a fund raiser such as this is about overcoming a challenge. So please help me to raise some support by sharing this or donating so we can help ORMA overcome its challenges and give back to a place that has given so much to so many. Thank you for your support.
