BENEFITING: INJURED MARINE SEMPER FI FUND
EVENT DATE: Aug 23, 2014
On August 23rd I will run the SeaWheeze half marathon in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I insist on running for a higher purpose than self-achievement. Close to my heart are many causes but bright in my mind is the experience of the active duty, inactive duty and veteran United States Marines. My brother served in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside his brothers who I came to know as well. Some were injured physically, some were injured mentally but all were changed.
In an effort to make even the smallest difference I have chosen the Semper Fi Fund. An incredible charity rated A+ by Charity Watch and given 4 stars by Charity Navigator (a rating only granted to 4% of all charities). Semper Fi Fund provides assistance and funding to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members (and their families) of ALL branches of the military. To keep low fundraising and administrative costs, they are not government funded; meaning more of the money donated goes toward the cause. To read more for yourself, visit http://semperfifund.org
