Run For Veterans 5K and Push-Up Challenge is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support veterans mental health care needs. Over 385,000 Iraq & Afghanistan veterans have been given a mental health diagnosis, or more than 52% of new veterans that visit the VA. Over 8,000 veterans commit suicide each year, a rate of 22 per day. Veterans mental health needs our attention more than ever before.
On Sunday, July 26 in Burr Ridge IL we'll host a 5K and Push-Up Challenge. All proceeds will benefit Lone Survivor Foundation. Our goal is to give them $30,000, enough to fund a family to attend a therapeautic retreat. We need your help!
The Push-Up Challenge starts before and continues after the 5K so you can do both! What is the Push-Up Challenge? Simple. You get 90 seconds to do as many push-ups as possible.
There is a Competitor and Open level. Competitor level is for those that train. Proper push-up position required, officials will watch and take count. Open level is for anyone that wants to give it a try, it does not matter how well or how many push-ups you do. Props for trying!
To participate in the Push-Up Challenge we ask you raise a minimum donation, $20 for Open level and $200 for Competitor. To register for the 5K, please sign up on runforveterans.com. Tell your family, friends, colleagues, and other networks what a great cause you're supporting. They can give any amount or if you'd like to have a bit of fun, suggest donations based on your mile time, finish time, and/or total push-ups accomplished.
