Run for Wilson
Organized by: Terry Eppler
THE STORY:
Wilson Gregory was diagnosed with stage IV, high - risk neuroblastoma in May 2013. He was just under one year old. Since his diagnosis, Wilson has endured four surgeries, six rounds of chemotherapy, an autologous stem cell transplant, 32 rounds of radiation, and countless hospitalizations for fevers. He is now undergoing immunotherapy. Money raised for the Wilson family will help to offset some of the enormous costs of battling cancer. Wilson is a brave little boy .
I am proud to be running the Ft. Worth Marathon for Wilson on November 9, 2014. The race is 26.2 miles and there are many rational reasons why I should not be doing this: e.g., I have NOT trained for this race at all until maybe tomorrow morning (August 12); I have bad asthma; I like to drink beer, I have been eating poorly, etc. (just to name a few).
Thankfully, I'm not a rational person and sane is an adjective rarely used to describe me (many who know me will agree). But you can be rational and sane by doing something good to help this girl/family and/or entertain yourself by pledging to make a contribution for each mile that I manage to finish in this race... or entertaining yourself by betting against me finishing this race as the odds are over-whelmingly on your side. Now, I don't expect to win but I do plan on finishing (even if I have to crawl)...or I will die trying.
It will be entertaining as my progress for each mile (or my demise) will be posted in real-time on Facebook throughout the race as I run the morning of November 9th. Rest assured! Even if I do not finish (haha, right!), 100% of your donations will still go to Wilson's family.
