BENEFITING: YOUTH EXCELLENCE PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOP
EVENT DATE: Sep 27, 2012
-->those who suppport 10 or more miles ($50) get their name on my jersey :-)<---
YEPAW is a non-profit organization that encourages the leadership of youth. Founder, Leslie Parker Barnes encourages leadership as a way to expand the betterment of society as a whole. YEPAW focuses on the arts (dance, orchestra, voice, creative writing, photography, and painting) to better individuals that take part in the week long intensive workshop
YEPAW and ME:
YEPAW is clearly responsible for many of my dreams and my courage to dream big and do whatever is in my power to be a leader and an individual who doesn't simply settle for mediocrity. This is my way of saying thanks because I kinda grew up with these people and they have always supported me!
WHAT CAN THE MONEY DO:
300-500 youth ages 12-25 attend the week long intensive workshop. We live in the University of Akron and we use venues such as The Chapel and area schools to rehearse, learn, explore and have fun. Over 60 volunteers take the time from their busy schedules to do even the most minute of things that helps the week ROCK!! These aren't just parents either. Parens such as my mother have a presence there but so do members of the Arlington Church of God and other Akron area churches. In my opinion YEPAW is necessary world-wide. I want them to expand so I am going to run to help them achieve their goals.
SO HERE'S THE DEAL:
My total mileage (training and the race) is 465.4-500 miles. I plan to raise about $4-5 per mile. So sponsor a mile!! Please note I am not using ANY of this money at all my YEPAW family gets 100% of the proceeds :-)
Thanks to those supporting me through this! Dont forget to come see the Akron Marathon September 27th 2012!
