May 03, 2016
EVENT DATE: Apr 30, 2016
ASAP stands for the Asian American Student Advocacy Project, CACF's youth leadership program for Asian Pacific American (APA) high school youth from NYC public high schools. By targeting low-income, APA youth from immigrant backgrounds, CACF aims to develop their leadership skills, college and career ready skills, and work to improve their communities. Consider the many challenges that APA youth face in this city: 1 out of 4 APAs do not finish high school on time or at all, and 1 out of 2 APA youth are born into poverty. This program works with the youth in their communities and creates future generations of APA leaders. This year marks CACF's 30th anniversary. To celebrate this, "Run for Youth" aims to raise $3,000 in honor of CACF's 30th year. These fund will go directly to our Youth Program ASAP. On April 30th, Mitchel Wu, ASAP's Program Manager will be running in the inaugural Queens Marathon. A whopping 26.2 miles!
