My goal in starting this page is to start a long-term fundraiser for cancer research, in memory of my mom Zhi Hong Wang. For now and the foreseeable future, all contributions will go in full to Free to Breathe (http://www.freetobreathe.org/), the organization fighting for lung cancer research that my mom devoted a lot of energy to. I aim to run a half marathon at least 1x a year for the next 10 years.
The next event takes place January 25th, and I'd love to raise at least $1,000 toward lung cancer by running this event. I along with some coworkers of the 4.0 Schools team will be running the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in New Orleans (http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/new-orleans).
Zhi Hong Wang passed away in 2014, after putting up a helluva fight with lung cancer (for a year and a half). Zhi was an incredible woman, one of the strongest that I knew. As nothing was ever given to Zhi, she has always fought for everything and taken nothing for granted. Zhi sacrificed so much for family (husband and three kids), and yet maintained her own ambitions, worked hard in her job at USDA and even earned an MBA. Zhi did much for her community as well, for colleagues, for friends and for her faith and church. We will carry on her infectious energy and memory with each of us. Thank you, for everything.
Also, we will be doing the 5k and Free to Breathe Walk in Athens, GA in the Fall 2015. More details for that to come.
