Run Jax Run
Organized by: Joshua Arntson
EVENT DATE May 30, 2015
During this year’s Fourth Annual Rancho Bernardo Challenge (12-hour team relay) Able Baca, David Lyman and Joshua Arntson will raise funds for fellow veteran, Jax Owens, by running for the full 12 hours. Jax originally suffered 3rd & 4th degree burns and lost part of her left leg in a fatal car accident in 2007 that took the lives of two of her best friends. Her original prosthetic was not properly fitted and gave her pain and discomfort every time she tried to be active. 6 months ago, Jax had to undergo another surgery in attempts to relieve some of that pain. However, since then she has not been able to run or be active without a newly fitted prosthetic. The money raised will help offset the cost of a prosthetic specialist in Washington who can finally fit her with a proper running leg.
Jax Owens has been an inspiration to so many people in the community, especially veterans of Team Red, White, and Blue by running marathons, half-marathons, 10k's, and 5k's. She is a devote CrossFitter and also volunteers as the CrossFit Coordinator for Team RWB San Diego.
