BENEFITING: OneSky for all children
EVENT DATE: Nov 07, 2010
I was fortunate enough to secure a spot in ING NYC Marathon 2010, I'd like to dedicate this run to a charity very close to my heart, Half the Sky Foundation.
I have been a supporter of Half the Sky Foundation for the last 5 years since graduating from Tufts University ( right outside of Boston). While in college, a group of friends and I saw a need for recently adopted-children from China to connect with Chinese-American "Big Sisters" and thus we formed our own "Big Sis-Little Sis" program. When I first met my little sis Mimi, she was a precious 4 year old who was shy, but now a spunky tween of 12, she texts me regularly and tells me about her own snowboarding stories. Just like her big sis snowboarding rules her winters. Where has the time gone!
Half the Sky was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for orphaned children in China. It is their goal to ensure that every orphaned child has a caring adult in her life and a chance at a bright future.
I've been very fortunate in my life and I'd love to see all the little girls get a chance to grow up into strong women just like my lil sister Mimi.
Support me and benefit Half the Sky Foundation by donating to my run. Thank you!
