my name is Mia and I am part of the RunMum Team to fundraise for JustWorld International's project in Cambodia.
A year ago my mum quitted smoking and started jogging. She felt so good that she set for herself the goal of running a marathon as soon as possible. She signed up for the NYC Marathon, but did not expect to be in for the run of her life just a few months later... My brothers, Riccardo and Ettore, and I really wanted to show her our support. So this is how the RunMum Team was born!
My mother is the founder of the Arezzo Equestrian Centre, a show ground in Italy that has hosted the Global Champions Tour, the Riders Tour, and annually organizes the Toscana Tour.
Seven years ago my mother met with Jessica Newman, the founder of JustWorld International, and it became a mission for our whole family to support her cause. I became a JustWorld ambassador and my brothers helped with fundraising on the show ground. I was an equestrian and becoming an ambassador meant having to wear the colors of JustWorld in the show ring and acting as a spokesperson to raise awareness for JustWorld. When I gave up riding, I did not want to lose my involvement with JustWorld and the possibility of improving the lives of underpriviledged children. So I decided to go to the project in Cambodia to volunteer for two months this summer. The experience was amazing! Getting to know the children JustWorld is supporting and personally seeing the improvements JustWorld is bringing about made me realize how important it is to give!
The RunMum Team wants to raise funds to give the children of JustWorld's project in Cambodia a leg up to a brighter future!
Our goal is $20,000. This means providing the children in the Just World/People Improvement Organization schools with classroom materials and uniforms for a year.
Help us reach our goal!!
My mum has run more than 2,000 km up to today and she is in to complete this challenge with your support. If you think about it, by the time she has finished the marathon, our goal of $20,000 divided by the kilometers she will have run means less than $10 per km.
How many kilometers do you want to support?
