Terry Hall was my grandfather. He was also a father of four, grandfather of 10, loving husband of nearly 50 years and a treasure of a friend to many. He loved people just as much as he did his four-legged friends. He brought so much joy to all of our lives and is greatly missed.
About a year ago, he was diagnosed with stage IV non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer and immediately began receiving treatment from a wonderful team at the Cleveland Metrohealth Cancer Center. The care he received was top notch and we were blessed to work with a staff who truly cares about their patients. This team quickly became like family and went above and beyond to cure my grandpa's illness. His cancer went into remission in September and we thought we had this terrible disease beat. However in November, the cancer reappeared this time in his brain. Treatments were started immediately but unfortunately the process was much more complicated due to the size and location of the tumor. On December 20th, 2015, my grandpa lost his battle with cancer while at home for a short visit in between treatments. Our lives were forever changed on that day.
It's hard to describe how great my grandfather was. He was the most selfless person I know always putting the needs of others before his own. He was our biggest fan whenever we were in an event and we could always count on him for a last minute ride to/from our activities. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life and treasured time spent with his family.
In his memory my sister Maddy and I will be running the Columbus Marathon on October 16, 2016 to raise money for the Cleveland MetroHealth Foundation. Doing things for others was a central part of grandpa's character and we wish to honor him by doing something that reflects that. Please pray for us as well train for this race and all others that are fighting this terrible disease. Thank you.
