As many of you know, our beloved dog June was diagnosed with hypercalcemia last year. Basically, excessive calcium that will cause a whole host of problems that will shorten her life. We were unsuccessful in finding a cure for June or a source of the problem, but we are hopeful that one day treatment will be available. As many of you also know, I consider myself a runner (albeit a slow one) and have secured a place for the Chicago Marathon this October. I have decided to raise money for the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation. I am doing this completely on my own and am not affiliated with their team for the marathon. I'm just trying to get some extra motivation to get out there when I really don't want to (think: toddler, new house, masters program, etc.) I figured making myself accountable to a cause that is dear to me will help.
