Running for a family
Organized by: Nicole Johnson
EVENT DATE Jan 06, 2017
Hello all! As some of you may recall I've ran the Disney World Marathon and Goofy challenge a few times. In the past they've always been in the name of Comfort Zone Camp, a bereavement camp for children (www.comfortzonecamp.org). This year I'm raising my stakes physically in hopes to generate funds for a coworker of mine in addition to Comfort Zone Came.
I'm running the Dopey Challenge which is 48.6 miles in the course of a weekend. I've set a very lofty goal of raising $15,000.
$5,000 will be matched by a grant my coworker has received to fullfll the total of over $30,000 in fees she and her husband have to raise for adopting a child. Jake and I have been blessed with our precious gift of a daughter just a few short months ago and I would love if I could help a couple realize their dreams of becoming a family. If you'd like to learn more about the wonderful couple waiting to become parents here is part of their story: http://christianadopt.org/waiting-family/ I hope you will help me in helping them.
Any money raised over the $5,000 will go to Comfort Zone Camp (CZC). CZC is a nonprofit 501(c)3 bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17, and are held year-round across the Country.
Thank you kindly for any help you can provide, Nicole
