Running for Declan - Help the Heuers Defeat Declan's Cancer
Organized by: Angela Heuer
EVENT DATE Nov 24, 2016
Declan Boyd Heuer was born July 22, 2016, and, at nine and a half pounds with the deepest blue eyes, appeared every bit the healthy baby. But born with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer found in nerve cells, that has already claimed one adrenal gland and threatens his liver, other adrenal gland, and bone marrow, Declan and his family have a serious fight ahead of them. You can learn more about his journey here.
That's why this Thanksgiving Day, we’re lacing up our sneakers and taking it to the streets for our boy Declan by running in Detroit’s famed Turkey Trot.
The good news:
- Declan is under the care of the very best pediatric oncologists in the world at Stanford Children’s Hospital, where he will begin treatment via chemo.
- At just two months old, Declan already has a legion of supporters who have his back and are ready to see him through this.
How you can help:
Declan’s journey towards good health won’t be easy. We’re running to raise money for the mounting financial costs the Heuer family faces. Your generous gifts will go straight to Kevin & Rebecca for expenses like a family meal on-the-go, weekly trips to Stanford and back, lost wages, and out-of-pocket medical costs.
On behalf of his adoring parents Rebecca and Kevin, siblings Georgia and Raleigh, his four grandparents and six cousins, and all those who love him from near and far, we’re asking for your help to make these anxiety ridden days just a little easier. Any gift is a meaningful one.
To paraphrase the words of Declan’s Papa, pediatric cancer is about the purest form of unfair we can think of in this world. Let’s help them kick this cancer to the curb!
With so much gratitude,
The Heuer Family
