Running for Research
Organized by: Missy Tine
In July of this summer my father was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. After several weeks and as many hospitals, he found himself at Johns Hopkins Hospital where he remained for over three weeks. Upon his arrival, the doctors and medical staff worked with my Father for 9 days in hopes that he would be admitted into a FDA approved clinical trial. Fortunately, we got the news July 15th that he was! With this trial, my Dad was given a second chance, one that not many others with his diagnosis are given. As he has progressed through treatment and what has proven to be a tough 3 months, I have decided that I too will go through something hard at the same time. I have signed up to run the Rehoboth Beach full marathon December 3, 2016. It is my hope that through helping to raise money for this clinical trial that it will one day become the standard treatment for this diagnosis and all will be given the chance that he has been given. All proceeds will go in full to the clinical trial. Please join me in my journey to raise awareness and money to support him and others.
