BENEFITING: Rosecrance Foundation
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
Hey Everyone! A 'quarter-life crisis' moment led me believe it would be "fun" to run 26.2 miles when I am 26.2 years old. So I registered for the 2017 Chicago Marathon this coming October...FUN!
I'll be running the marathon on behalf of Rosecrance Health Network. Rosecrance is a center dedicated to providing quality care and evidence-based practices to treat substance abuse and mental health issues.
Addiction not only affects the addict, but their families and friends as well. Rosecrance is committed to providing services to meet the needs of their patients and their families with recovery. I have personally felt the impact of this facility and have witnessed the success of their program to someone special to me. Running in honor of this individual shows only a fraction of the pride I have in their road to recovery.
Both the recovery process and training process require the same mindset: 'remember it is a marathon, not a sprint.' These journeys take time, patience, self-acceptance, and dedication. The ups, downs, and bumps along the road make the journey even more worthwhile. One of Rosecrance's core values is to "embrace the challenge of continuous performance improvement" which is something I will value each step of the way.
I can't wait to (hopefully!) cross the finish line and provide a donation to support other individuals' road to recovery at Rosecrance. Should you wish to contribute to my charity goal and support my marathon adventure, click the "Donate To This Fundraiser" tab on this page.
