BENEFITING: Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration
EVENT DATE: Aug 19, 2017
Mom was diagnosed with PPA, Primary Progressive Aphasia about 6 years ago. Primary Progressive Aphasia is a type of FTD- Frontal Temporal Dementia. People with PPA are fighting against a condition in which they continue to lose their ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand what they hear. As the disease progresses, other mental abilities also decline. My mom, Ruth Heminger, is the rock and glue of our family. She is an amazing mother, as she continues to teach us lessons on grace and dignity and strength and love. She was a remarkable high school math teacher , loved by many students and fellow teachers. She still has the best laugh, which is known for its contagious effect. I have organized this run to raise awareness of this disease and to help fund further research. I pray for a cure and treatment to be found for all suffering now and in the future.
