EVENT DATE: Jan 15, 2017
The cycle of poverty and illiteracy throughout the world is huge issue, especially in countries like India. I am running in supprort of The Association for the Promotion of Adoption in India. IAPA hopes to break this cycle through placing children in need into familes while providing them with the resources to succeed.
I hope to raise $10,000 by the time I run in the Mumbai Marathon on Jan 15, 2017.
IAPA was formed in 1970 and promotes family-based, non-institutional child development services. This includes support of foster care programs rather than institutional based orphanages whenever possible. These programs encourage placing children in need into family structures rather than institutional type programs such as orphanages when ever possible. IAPA offers the following services: ·Adoption Services: IAPA works with children who are orphaned and abandoned. Thousands of children have been placed with families through IAPA’s adoption program. Family Preservation: Through encouraging foster care, IAPA has prevented the trauma of neglect or separation from families. This includes families headed by single mothers with poor earning ability. Educational Support: Starting from elementary level, IAPA follows children starting in elementary school and sees them through the college level. Over 800 students have been given direct assistance. Ancillary Support Services: The services range from extra coaching, nutrition, promotion of body mind and emotional Health through recreation and cultural experiences, activities and services for strengthening the family.
100% of the money donated to IAPA will go toward programs designed to break the perpetual cycle of poverty and illiteracy for children in need. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Please contact me if you have any questions....
