After becoming a first time mom on October 21, 2016 to Ellie Josephine, I am honored to be running the Buffalo Half Marathon on May 28th as a part of Team Every Mother Counts. (I ran the Buffalo Marathon last year while 20 weeks pregnant with Ellie so I am excited to make the trip back this year!)
EVERY MOTHER COUNTS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO MAKING PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH SAFE FOR EVERY MOTHER. WE INFORM, ENGAGE, AND MOBILIZE NEW AUDIENCES TO TAKE ACTIONS AND RAISE FUNDS THAT SUPPORT MATERNAL HEALTH PROGRAMS AROUND THE WORLD. Every Mother Counts was launched in 2010 to heighten awareness about our global maternal health crisis. While advocacy remains a key focus, Every Mother Counts has evolved into a 501(c)(3) investing in programs around the world to ensure all women have access to quality maternal healthcare.
As I learned more about this organization, I knew I wanted to get involved and raise awareness the best way I know how - through running! By joining Run Team EMC, I am excited to make a difference and proud to be dedicating my miles throughout the next 8 weeks of training and the 13.1 miles in Buffalo to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere.
Since 2011, the EMC running program has helped raise over $2.2 million and since 2012, Every Mother Counts has provided over $3 million in grants and have directly and impacted over 540,000 lives. (89 cents of every dollar raised is invested into programs that support EMC's mission to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother.)
Every donation helps -- $5 is enough to provide transportation to a safe birth facility for a pregnant woman in Uganda so she doesn't have to walk. Please consider donating and thank you so much in advance!
