Never did I think that the city of Boston--my home--could be the victim of such a gruesome act of violence. Especially on Patriot's Day/Marathon Monday. A day filled with people coming together to cheer on their friends, families, and complete strangers, as they run a full 26.2 miles (further than most of us can imagine running). A day honored in Massachusetts to celebrate the anniversary of battles that were fought for the freedom of our country. A day now marred by a senseless, violent act affecting scores of innocent people. Knowing Boston, this day will not be marred forever. The pride and strength of Bostonians will prevail.
The Boston Marathon bombings on April 15, 2013 affected so many people in Boston, throughout the United States, and even throughout the world. These bombings resulted in physical and emotional injury, which became my inspiration for this fundraiser. I am running for all those who can no longer run as a result of one person's (or one group's) act of hatred. Or as a result of any act of violence or unexpected tragedy.
I will be raising money up until my Oregon half marathon on 8/31/2013. I appreciate both one-time donations and pledges for donations based on training. My thought is that people can pledge a dollar amount per 26.2 miles that I run in training, I will track the miles, and this money can be donated on race day. Thanks to anyone and everyone for your help!!
