I am a Mother, a Wife a Doula and a Runner. I am passionate about Birth and rebirthing myself through running. I support women to birth their babies in a safe and gentle environment, I support women to trust their innate wisdom in birthing, I believe it is a woman's right to choose how she would like to birth her baby. I passionately support Independent Midwives, Midwives and Doulas honouring their role as birthkeepers. I believe that birth is a Sacred Rite of Passage and I lovingly spread the word for all Women to unite in reclaiming their birthing bodies and rejoicing in the power of the Feminine. I am currently training for the Perth Marathon, the rebirthing of myself as I tackle this mammoth challenge. 2 years ago I entered my first ever funrun, running just 4.5kms, as I was standing waiting to start the race, I was overcome with tears of joy, flooded with pride for just being there, for taking the plunge to do something just for me, rebirthing myself I started a new chapter. I was addicted, I went on to run the Perth 12km City2Surf, followed by various other runs including a half marathon, never thinking that I would ever want to challenge myself with a full marathon. The end of 2011 I found myself looking for that inner journey, the solace that running 42.2kms brings. March 2012 my training began and with that did the idea of running for a charity. I knew of a charity Bumi Sehat Foundation which provides 2 free medical centres for the people of Bali and Aceh. The Bali centre has a birthing centre attached providing services to pregnant Women, enabling them to safe and gentle birthing practices, providing training to local women supporting them to become midwives and providing holistic healthcare for newmothers and their babies. The centre is run purely by donation and its volunteers. Over 17,000 people are treated by Bumi Sehat per year. It is my wish to raise awareness about the importance of gentle birth whilst at the same time raising much needed funding so Bumi Sehat can continue to provide this valuable service for years to come.
