BENEFITING: GIRLS ON THE RUN OF SAN DIEGO
EVENT DATE: Mar 10, 2013
In March I'll be running the 2nd Annual San Diego Half Marathon. This will be my second time running this race and this year I'm hoping to knock at least 2-3 minutes off my time which will put me below the stubborn 1:50 mark. But I need some extra motivation! So I've decided to run in support of my daughter Gigi and a great non-profit organization she's involved with called "Girls on the Run."
Gigi has caught the running bug thanks in part to her involvement in “Girls on the Run.” GOTR is a national non-profit organization that empowers 3rd-8th grade girls through a three month after-school running program that culminates in a 5k race each year. GOTR uses running and a "life lessons" curriculum to instill confidence and motivate girls, teaching them the values of healthy habits, relationships, respect, diversity and giving back. Since joining GOTR, Gigi has completed four different 5K races and gets faster and more confident every time! GOTR has had an amazingly positive impact on Gigi.
GOTR is truly an awesome organization. If you want to learn more about it, check out the following link:
