"Human history becomes more and more a RACE between EDUCATION and CATASTROPHE." ~HG Wells
On October 3, 2015 join with thousands of people across the country and internationally as they don their "Running for Haiti" t-shirts and run or walk! Some people will run/walk on their own, some will run/walk in organized races (this is also the day of the St. George Marathon). But whether organized or on their own, all will participate to improve the lives of the children of Haiti by helping to give them the priceless gift of education. Begin pledging now and see how many children your participation can help!
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The Global Campaign for Education has rated Haiti as one of the worst places for a child to live. There are over 350,000 orphans in Port au Prince alone, all of which desperately need an education to give them any sort of chance to break out of the poverty cycle. Money that Haitians could use for education is instead used to literally just sustain life.
Haitian Roots is a charitable organization dedicated to changing the future of Haiti through educating her children today. They have an elementary school, a preschool at their orphanage, and hundreds of additional children in their scholarship program. There is a high level of accountability for all children involved in their programs. Haitian Roots is run by unpaid volunteers so you can feel confident that your funds are getting to Haiti and being used for the desired purpose of changing children's lives and building hope for a better future.
