Daraja Academy is a secondary boarding school for exceptional Kenyan girls who without their scholarships would not be able to get an education. It was an honor and privilege to spend a month on campus this Feb-Mar, connecting with 77 extraordinary students and the Daraja community of faculty, administrators, staff, and volunteers. Words cannot express the humility and gratitude I felt surrounded by some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. Great love... is what one experiences as a member of the Daraja family.
I humbly ask for your support to reach my goal of raising $3000 for Daraja Academy by May 15, 2011 when I will run in this year's 100th anniversary Bay to Breakers. Join us, the Daraja family, be agents of change in our world by investing in the Girls of Daraja, Women of Integrity, Strength and Hope who are also women of GRACE living their lives with Gratitude, Resilience, Achievement, Choices and Empowerment.
As I run the race, my partnered student, Joan Jerop will be running the distance of the race, 28 laps around the field on campus. Joan, a 15yr old, Form 2 (high school sophomore), is a shining star with a brilliant shy smile that lights up the faces of all who meet her. Should you wish to support Joan's efforts during the lap-a-thon, please go to the Daraja Academy website, http://daraja-academy.org/ to make your donation.
ASANTE SANA (Thank you very much in Kiswahili).
