BENEFITING: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
EVENT DATE: Aug 04, 2014
On August 4th, I will be running in the Dublin Rock n' Roll Half Marathon to raise money in the fight to end ALS or, Lou Gehrig Disease. I will be running in honor of my aunt, Lori Henig, who is currently battling this devastating and fatal disease.
ALS is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, people with ALS progressively lose the ability to function and care for themselves. Death often occurs within 3 - 5 years of diagnosis.
On a personal note, Aunt Lori is one of the most courageous people I know and is an inspiration for living life to the fullest despite the daily challenges faced by this dreadful disease.
