BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT DATE: Apr 24, 2016
I have a big announcement to make: I'm running a marathon, and you’re coming with me!
I work for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association helping extend and improve the lives of people with pulmonary hypertension. In my short time at PHA, I have been profoundly inspired by the courage, strength and hope of people affected by this disease, and I want more than anything to use my good health to fight for those who aren't so lucky.
PH is a rare chronic illness that can lead to heart failure and death in just a few years without treatment. There are many treatments, and thanks to the whole PHA community people with PH are living longer, better lives. But there is no cure.
I’m running the Gettysburg Marathon on April 24 to raise money for the PHA Registry. This new, unique program will allow thousands of patients to pool their data so researchers can more effectively study it and find that cure. It will also allow doctors and nurses to improve and create best practices and standards of care. This program will change so many lives for the better, and you can help.
I’m going to spend the weeks leading up to the race telling you more about PH, about my heroes in the PHA community and asking you to support me. If I do my job, you’ll be persuaded to donate to make research possible and help us find a cure.
So that’s our big news: I’m running a marathon, and you’re coming with me!
