Running for Adopt a Child for Christmas - Gwangju
Organized by: Lianne Bronzo
EVENT DATE Nov 30, 2014
Adopt-a-Child for Christmas - Gwangju was founded four years ago by Al Barnum. People can play Santa and purchase a gift for a child housed in a local orphanage, a child who would otherwise not celebrate the holidays. The program grows each year, with this year's goal to purchase a gift for EVERY child housed in Gwangju's orphanages. Get into the spirit of the season by passing on love and best wishes to those who need it most - the young and parentless. Every contribution helps.
There are 800 orphans in Gwangju, so 800 gifts will be distributed on Christmas. Each gift will cost about $30, ranging from warm winter clothes to sneakers and toys (whatever the children write on their wishlist to Santa), so $24,000 is to be raised. With the help of the incredible expat community in Gwangju, various fundraising events, and generous donors worldwide, every orphan in Gwangju can have the Christmas they deserve. There will be a party, with the special appearance of Santa, to distribute the gifts to the children.
The purpose of this page is to fund the runners of the Damyang Metasequoia race. Fundraisers will wear Santa hats while running through the tree-lined roads in Damyang, South Korea on November 30, 2014. This is a great way to get family and friends in our home countries to support the cause. Please support the Santas running for the holidays! 100% of the money raised will purchase gifts for the children.
For every $30 donated, one gift can be purchased. Donors will receive a followup email after the gifts have been distributed. Donors can also have their names attached to the gifts, but this is optional.
For those living in Korea, it is better to donate money via bank transfer to avoid fees taken from Crowdrise. Bank name: KEB. Account Number: 620-225964-325 under the name JORDAN MICHAEL.
