EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2013
As you may or may not know, we (Sarah and Emily) have just completed our Physician Assistant degree program. In an effort to celebrate, kill time, and give back we will be running the Chicago Bank of America Marathon October 13th and travelling on a medical outreach trip to Limón, Nicaragua and Alajuelita, Costa Rica October 15th-31st with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC), a global non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children worldwide by providing medical care and health education. My experience with FIMRC will enable me to learn more about the medical issues facing the developing world and will give me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of underserved children.
As runners in the Chicago Marathon and volunteers with FIMRC, we have pledged to fundraise $5,000 for our upcoming trip. These funds will go towards maintaining stocked pharmacy shelves, operating community health outreach programs, and hiring quality health professionals to provide care to underserved communities that FIMRC serves. In addition, these funds will also cover the cost of our housing, food, and transportation, including round-trip transportation between the airport, clinic and community sites as well as round-trip transport to our housing, allowing us to focus our energy solely on volunteering.
FIMRC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Philadelphia, PA. As such, your donation in support of our volunteer experience will be fully tax deductible, and you will receive an e-mail of confirmation from the Foundation’s headquarters acknowledging your donation and containing a receipt for your records.
I hope that you will consider supporting us by contributing towards our fundraising goal! Not only will this allow us to participate in this wonderful experience, but it will also allow you actively contribute to the work that FIMRC is doing to drastically improve the lives of underserved people around the world. Thank you in advance for any support you are able to provide - We am truly grateful for any and all contributions!
Please let us know of any questions you might have, or feel free to contact FIMRC directly via the information provided below!
We look forward to sharing our experience with you when we return!
