BENEFITING: FOOTHILLS UNITED WAY INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
On November 3rd, I'm running the New York City Marathon. I wasn't planning on doing a fundraiser as part of my New York Marathon experience - I was in the race through lottery & was focused on just getting through it! However, I happened to be in Golden, Colorado visiting family the same weekend that the incredible flooding hit the Front Range. The images & stories I saw and heard while there were eerily similar to those we all witnessed in the greater Metro NY area in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy last year. And, like Sandy, the devastation is so complete in communities like Boulder & Lyons that one would swear they were seaside. So, on a short run on the Golden Trail outside Denver this weekend, I found renewed purpose in the rain. My goal is to raise a relatively meager $2620 for the victims of the Colorado flooding - $100 for every mile I run. I am asking for your help. Even a very small donation will help these folks rebuild their lives & keep me focused on the task at hand - finishing the race!
I love Colorado. It's a big piece of heaven on earth. But these communities will need outside help to rebuild so much of what was literally washed away. So when I think back on the support and comfort that organizations like The United Way provided to the hardest hit of our region last year, I am reminded that so much help came from generous individual donors. Please consider donating to help Colorado. I'm running 26.2 miles - I'd love to know that I'm running for more than just me. Many thanks, Kathy
