On May 17th, 2015, I will put on my running shoes and run the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. Just like thousands of other runners, I will endure 26.2 miles through the beautiful landscape of Northern Wisconsin. Unlike most of those runners, I will run wearing my police uniform. My polyester blues, bullet resistant vest, and duty belt will proudly be worn for those 26.2 miles.
By running the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon in full police uniform, I hope to honor the lives of every law enforcement officer who has lost their life in the line of duty. I hope to bring awareness to the sacrifice these officers have made. I am also raising awareness and funds for C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.).
C.O.P.S. helps the families and coworkers of officers killed in the line of duty. This includes providing counseling, peer support, scholarships, camps, and so much more. C.O.P.S. also provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization.
Thank you for your support.
For all those officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, thank you for your service. Your watch is over, we'll take it from here.
